Project Review
Nearal is an AI-enhanced local professional network mobile app. It is available on both iPhone and Android. Whether people are seeking for a business partner, offering his/her professional skills/services, finding a skilled worker nearby, or just want to stay in touch with a local professional community, Nearal is the right app and right place for them.
Chatbot Feature
In 2018, I joined Nearl to learn and make exciting widgets. One feature I've designed is the chatbot widget. At first, we want to create a function to help our users build their profiles without filling out forms, as other projects will do.
So we decide to use Chatbot to collect data and help first-time users join and assist them in setting up their profile and providing clear guidance simultaneously. Also, a simple AI chatbot can help companies keep costs under control, especially for small start-ups. The convenient and fast information collection process can save the company's labor expenses in the early stage. To meet these goals, we must focus on the following key factors:
Collecting enough info in a short amount of time.
Provide 3-4 minimum answers for each question during the survey to speed up the whole process.
Offer the user a “skip” option, and they can always set up the profile later.
Though the widget didn't launch, I benefited greatly from it. The research on chatbots has also helped me to understand how to design such products in the future.
System Material - Profile Default Avatars
To enrich the entertainment of the user experience, I designed over 50 sets of default avatars that users can change at will. All the characters are based on the mascot of Nearal.
